Case study · Pure Modular

A garden office at full size in your own garden, in three weeks.

Pure Modular builds modular garden buildings, office, gym, studio, configured to the buyer. Then lockdown removed every way of showing one. Ar-range built them a web AR viewer that puts the building in the customer's garden instead.

How it works

Scan

A code on the product page.

The Pure Office page shows a QR code next to the model. Scan it with a phone and the office opens in augmented reality, straight from the browser, with no app to download.

Place

Point the phone at the lawn.

The phone finds the ground, then the office settles on the grass at full size, exactly where it would stand.

Walk around

See it from outside, at 1:1.

Photorealistic lighting, textures and colours, so the cladding, the glazing and the proportions read the way they will on delivery day.

Go inside

Step in and sit at the desk.

The model is complete inside too: walk through the door and see the workspace the way you would use it, before anything is bought.

What we built
Pure Modular
Pure Office · modular garden buildings
The constraint that shaped it

Pure Modular was a startup, the market need was immediate, and a full parametric configurator would have taken months and a budget that did not exist. The honest answer was not to build one.

What we did instead
  • Modelled Pure Office once, with photorealistic lighting baked for AR.
  • Built AR experiences for the configurations that match up to 80% of buyers: cladding in oak, grey and dark wood, with fit-out options.
  • Shipped it through the Ar-range widget, so AR opens from the website with nothing to install.
  • Cut file weight hard enough to load on a phone without losing the finish quality the product sells on.
FAQ

What people ask about AR for buildings.

Does the customer need an app?
No. It opens from the product page on the phone they are already holding. That was a hard requirement: an install step loses most of the people you just persuaded to look.
Why not a full configurator?
Because a small number of configurations cover most buyers. Building those first put a working AR experience in front of customers in three weeks; the long tail can follow once it is earning.
Is the scale trustworthy?
It is 1:1 against the real building. That is the point, the question a garden office has to answer is whether it fits, and how it feels to stand in.
Our product is heavier than a shed. Will it load?
That was the hardest part here too. Keeping the finish while cutting file weight enough for mobile took several iterations, and it is the work that decides whether AR is usable or a spinner.

Selling something too big to bring to the customer?

Tell us what it is and how it varies. We will tell you straight whether AR carries it, and which configurations are worth building first.
