Fields & forms

Add a field to an item group

Fields come from the group, not the item. Add one and every item in that group gets it.

Updated 27 August 2026

An item form shows whatever fields its item group defines. Adding a field to the group adds it to every item in that group at once.

Add the field

  1. Open your project and pick the item group.
  2. Open its field settings and click Add field.
  3. Give the field a label, choose its type, and Save.

Existing items keep their values and gain the new field, empty.

Only used when the type is "item".
A field being added to a group: the name and the type are the only two that decide anything, and the rest of the form follows from the type.

Before you pick a type

Changing a type later does not carry the values across, so it is worth a moment now. If the values come from a fixed set, a category, a finish family, use List rather than Text, so they can be filtered later.

What to reuse

Troubleshooting

The new field is empty on every item

That is expected. A new field starts empty everywhere; fill it as you edit each item, or ask an integrator to bulk-fill it through the API.

I cannot delete a field

You can, but deleting a field deletes its values on every item in the group, and that is not undoable. Export first if the values matter.

If they can't see it, they won't buy it. Let's show them.
