A shop product knows its name, price and options. It does not know what the fabric feels like, which colour family it belongs to or what it looks like rendered. Those live on an item in Content Hub. Linking the two is what brings them together.
One product can hold many items, which is the point: a sofa product can carry an item per fabric, and each item brings its own attributes and images.
Two ways to make the link
From an existing product. Open the item, choose the product in the Product field, save.
Create the product from the item. If the shop has no product yet, the item can create one. An item that already has a product will refuse, so the two never fall out of step.
You can also set the link in bulk when importing items, so a catalogue arrives already linked.
What the link does not do
Linking does not keep prices in step. The item’s price seeds the product only at the moment the product is created from it; after that the two prices are independent, and editing one does not move the other. To change what the shop charges, edit the price on the product itself.
What to reuse
Troubleshooting
The product list is empty
Products come from the shop through the integration. If none are listed, the project has not fetched them yet.
I linked the item but the shop page looks the same
The shop reads the extra data through the configurator endpoint. The link puts the item in that payload; the storefront still has to display it.
